Please select your visa types to get more information about the processing time.
In addition, you can consult our range of services designed to enhance your visa application experience.
Your applications should be lodged at least 15 calendar days prior to the intended departure date (applications can be introduced up to six months before the start of the intended visit).
Applications accepted at the Belgium Visa Application Centre London will be submitted on the next working day to the Embassy of Belgium for a decision.
Please note that the Belgian Embassy aims to process applications within 10 working days of receipt of the application. Provided that a complete file is submitted, a decision can usually be expected sooner.
But, it may take longer in certain cases: up to 85 calendar days when additional documents are requested or if your application has been submitted to the Immigration authorities in Belgium.
Specific information – please read carefully:
Applications in view of marriage (to be concluded in Belgium) or cohabitation have to be submitted as C-visa applications, but the processing time is that of a long stay visa (please see below).
Passports are kept at the Embassy for the duration of the processing of the visa application. Should you have an urgent need for your passport, please contact the TLS centre via email to request a temporary withdrawal of your passport.
The processing time for long stay visa applications varies per category and will also be dependent on the time of year (it will take longer in the busy periods over summer and at the end of the year).
The below processing times may increase due to the time required to transmit your application to the immigration authorities in Belgium via diplomatic post.
